Ayurveda, the ancient art of health care and healing, dates back over 5,000 years in India. It is a holistic system, encompassing the state of our body, mind, emotions and spirit, the level of nourishment and the life energy coming into our lives. How we interact with the world is ultimately an expression of our beliefs, perceptions, thoughts and feelings, which ultimately determines our actions. Ayurveda recognizes different aspects of ourselves and incorporates the information within the health system.

Ayurveda understands the fundamental cause of disease to be the natural expression of the body to living out of harmony or balance with our environment. To find balance, we must harmonize with the environment outside us. When we live in harmony, we express ourselves to our full potential, and this gives our body the best chance of healing naturally. Ayurveda employs different practices, such as diet, herbs, bodywork, daily regimes of right living, meditation, yoga and more, to attain health and happiness and reach our full potential as human beings.
In Sanskrit, Ayurveda translates as “the knowledge of life or longevity.” Ayurveda provides us with the tools to create a deep understanding of how the universe and everything in it works, bringing optimum health, balance, relaxation and peace into our lives.
